Ultimately, any protocol you are starting to follow should be backed up by science and research, that way you know it has been tried and tested and not just sold as a gimmick to make money from you.
It is so easy to get sucked into the sexy social media adverts selling this, and advocating that, but just remember to check the key points of it and see if there is any science and research to back it up.
